I’m Dr. Johnson, a board-certified specialist in allergies and immunology, heading an exceptional team of healthcare professionals devoted to offering exceptional care for those dealing with allergies and asthma.
We are founded on the principle of patient-centric care, firmly believing in partnering with our patients in their healthcare journey. This dedication has led to revolutionary breakthroughs, such as being pioneers in diagnosing rare conditions including green tea-induced anaphylaxis, pumpkin seed-triggered anaphylaxis, bay leaf allergy, and garlic-provoked food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome.
In my journey to push the boundaries of allergy-immunology, I have written over 20 peer-reviewed publications, added to a book chapter on asthma, and have been invited to present at more than 10 national conferences. It was a distinct privilege to present on anaphylaxis to global consulates, earning me a commendation from the Governor of New Hampshire for my contributions to the field.
My medical journey started with a fervor for research, and I was lucky to secure an American Heart Association research grant during my college years. This opportunity sparked my passion to effect change through research. I collaborated on innovative projects on tissue-engineered replacement heart valves for children with Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. My work was featured in Circulation, a leading cardiology research journal. Subsequently, my research on Huntington’s Disease, conducted at the University of Central Florida – College of Medicine, gained recognition on the cover of Nature Medicine.
In order to remain at the forefront of our discipline, I am an active member of various prestigious organizations, such as the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, the New England Society of Allergy, American Association of Immunologists, Clinical Immunology Society, Society for Pediatric Dermatology, and American Contact Dermatitis Society.

Hello! I'm Dr. Johnson, a board-certified allergist and immunologist at the forefront of our dedicated team at Greater Boston Allergy. Together, we leverage our extensive medical training and expertise to guide our patients through their allergy and immunology conditions with compassion and precision.
Our collaborative approach has led us to groundbreaking discoveries, including the first diagnoses of green tea-induced anaphylaxis, pumpkin seed-induced anaphylaxis, bay leaf allergy, and garlic-induced food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome. I am deeply invested in the progression of allergy-immunology. My contributions to the field include more than 20 peer-reviewed publications, authoring a book chapter on asthma, and delivering over 10 invited presentations at national conferences and international forums. Notably, my presentation on anaphylaxis to international consulates was honored with a commendation from the State of New Hampshire Governor, recognizing my efforts to advance allergy and immunology research.
My passion for research was sparked early on, receiving an American Heart Association research grant as one of eight college students in the Northeast U.S. This initial research at Boston Children’s Hospital, in collaboration with Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, focused on developing tissue-engineered heart valves for children, with our findings published in Circulation. Our Team
Dr. Susan Andrew, MD
Dr. Andrew has been in solo, private allergy practice in Dickinson, TX for the past 27 years. She graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor of Science. After college, she worked for two years at what is now the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. She attributes this experience as being the major influence on her career path. From there she went to medical school in New York City and graduated from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons. She started residency in Internal Medicine at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. She moved to Houston and finished
her residency and fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine. After fellowship, she joined Dr. John Perry at Mainland Allergy Clinic in Dickinson and bought the practice a year later. Ten years ago she added an office in Bellaire and established an allergy clinic for Native Americans at Tuba City Regional Medical Center in Arizona. She started having medical students early on in her clinical practice and now hosts PA students and Internal Medicine Residents as well. She is married to Dr. Len Cleary and they have three adult sons, Timothy, James and Daniel Cleary.
Dr. Ashley T. Nguyen, MD
As an allergist/clinical immunologist at Greater Boston Allergy, I have the privilege of providing compassionate and patient-centered care. I attended Boston College (Go Eagles!), and majored in both biology and philosophy with a pre-medical concentration. I conducted research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute prior to completing medical school at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. During medical school, I was a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society, and I received the Award for Excellence in Clinical and Diagnostic Skills along with the Pearl Wei Memorial Scholarship. I then completed a combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency at Brown University where my passion
for caring for both adults and children was deepened. I completed Allergy & Immunology fellowship also at Brown University. During my fellowship training, I published in Allergy and Asthma Proceedings and Pediatrics. I conducted research on food allergy and barriers to epinephrine autoinjector use. I served on the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, & Immunology (AAAAI) Fellow-In-Training Committee as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Liaison and also the Social Media Liaison. I also served as a mentor for both the AAAAI and the American College of Allergy, Asthma, & Immunology (ACAAI). I also was a committee member in the Women in Clinical Immunology Society (WCIS).
My medical training and experience has contributed to my ability to specialize in treating patients with a broad range of allergic conditions including allergic rhinitis, asthma, atopic dermatitis, chronic urticaria, and mast cell disorders. My approach to patient care is that we are a team, and I strive to work as a team to improve the health and quality of life of the patient. At Greater Boston Allergy, I am proud to be part of a team that shares my dedication to providing excellent and empathetic care to our patients.
Dr. John McGuire, MD
My name is Dr. John McGuire. I was born and raised in Sea Cliff, New York. I went to the University of Notre Dame for my undergraduate studies and later received my medical degree from St. George’s University of Medicine. I completed my Pediatric Residency, Chief Residency, and Allergy Fellowship at Georgetown University Medical Center.
I’ve been practicing Allergy and Asthma care on the Southcoast for over 25 years now. I’m also blessed with my wonderful spouse of almost 40 years and three grown children.
Dr. Erin O'Shea Paudel
A graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Dr. Erin O’Shea first thought she would have a career in scientific research but later decided medicine suited her better and she enrolled in the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. “I liked the fact that it was more social being a doctor than being a scientist, I really enjoy getting to know patients and hearing their stories.”
In her practice Dr. O’Shea treats patients with many different problems including sleep apnea, COPD, lung cancer, chronic cough, pulmonary nodules, and interstitial lung disease. She has a special interest in helping patients with sleep problems, known as sleep medicine.
In her spare time Dr. O’Shea enjoys playing the violin and piano and has played in the orchestra at UMass. She also enjoys gardening and travel.
